For a few days I’ve been trying to log on to chatGPT constantly but the server is running at its full capacity. I find it amusing because modern servers are really good at handling network traffic, and there is no shortage of service providers who lend businesses high computing servers. It is unusual for websites, especially popular websites, to be down. When there is clear evidence that it is being accessed by a lot of users at the same time. My question is why are people trying to access chatGPT? If we think about it, it is just a chatbot. What possibly people could do with an AI which can generate letters arranged in such a manner that it appears as if it was written by an actual person. You might say it is the hype created around it that’s why everyone wants to check it out. Fine, but it does not justify why the server will be down for weeks.
There is a debate going on that chatGPT will end google. I don’t think it will happen. Google is a multi-billion dollar company and they are not going to let a simple AI chatbot kick them out of the market. According to modern laws of business if a competitor is a threat then copy what they are doing or buy them. We might see Google using these tactics. The reason why chatGPT stands out when compared to google is that no one needs to have multiple tabs open. The time spent searching on google is removed by chatGPT.
As a fellow programmer, Stackoverflow is not just a website for programmers but a life saver. For those who are not aware of this website let me give you a quick overview of it. During coding when someone is stuck with an error or a bug they can post that on Stackoverflow and someone who knows how to resolve it will respond to it. If others face the same issue, they can use the solution. Chatgpt has tremendous power to write clean code on its own, along with proper explanation for the code it has written. I’m curious how Stackoverflow will handle this apocalypse.
Recently Microsoft invested 10 billion dollars in chatGPT. They are probably using this money into ensuring that seamless service is available to users all the time. 1 followed by 9 zeros. It is not a small amount of cash that they are throwing. It definitely speaks volumes about chatGPT.
What was the point of this article? ChatGPT is changing existing ways of doing things in various fields like programming and writing at an incredible rate. There are other uses for it which I’m not aware of. Finally I would like to conclude, by the end of this year I’m sure we will find out how many businesses have shut down or at least been affected by chatGPT.
