Advancement in AI has shaken multiple grounds at the same time. What does it mean for designers?
Designers should be working in close collaboration between computers and modern software. There is a lot AI can offer when it comes to design.
- AI can help build custom logos for small companies who do not have budget for a designer to create their brand identity. Example logomaker, canva etc.
- Canvas also offers greeting cards and presentations which I often use as a designer for my day to day work. It also has social media post formats!
- As a designer you need to keep updated with design tools and features. I can bet Figma is much better than it was launched several years ago. It main attraction being everything on cloud and everyone can see the file. The latest feature called section is soo cool.
- AI can help write copy or text and you do not need Lorem ipsum anymore. Your design looks much clean and ready to launch. For example, Jasper, open ai etc.
- We all started with documents on Microsoft word and now we are all using miro as a whiteboard to collate our ideas. Gradually, our life is shifting more and more towards digital without us being aware.
- AI can even help with graphic design where you can just describe your scene to an advance AI. The AI then makes a beautiful artwork! Check this out.
- There are many website to help you decide you brand or app colors. One is Coolers and other is Color dot; plus of course there are many choices.
- Our calculators and calendars have become digital. We have a mac, iPhone, AirPods and apple watch. Don’t think we are non-digital even for a second.
- An AI can even suggest company names for small companies or projects which lack budget. For example business name maker, namelix
- Slowly the education system and new generation is also engaged in tablets and phones at a young age. Voice interfaces have become the norm of the day for them.
Our diaries have becomes blogs and articles which we can share with the world but who has the time to read it all or research all these products mentioned? We face this problem all the time. This is where a designer comes in to choose and decide what is right for customers from a design point of view.
A good designer first researches and empathizes, defines the problem, idealizes the solution, defines, creates the prototypes and then tests with the user. I have written previously about design process. You can find more information for design thinking here.
Finally technology needs to go hand-in-hand to provide a better life for all of us. Somewhere laptops have helped increase jobs and phones are now a necessity. Maybe internet too, we can see many free Wi-Fi zones etc.
Happy Designing!
